Hi everyone,

First of all, thank you so much for being here and for your constant support—it really means a lot.

I’m reaching out today because I could really use your help.

Three years ago, before we met, my boyfriend was involved in a car accident while he was learning to drive. He was parked and just starting to move when another driver crashed into him, flipping the other car. Unfortunately, he didn’t have a license at the time, which made the situation much more complicated.

The other driver filed a lawsuit through her insurance company, and the total debt amounted to $82,000 MXN (about $4,200 USD). He was facing the risk of going to jail due to his low income as an art and dance teacher for people with disabilities. Thankfully, with the support of friends and people like you, we were able to hire a lawyer and negotiate the debt down to $60,000 MXN (around $3,107 USD). We’ve already paid half of that, but we still owe $30,000 MXN, which we’ve been paying in monthly installments of $3,000 MXN (about $155 USD). So far, we’ve managed to make four out of ten payments, but we still owe $18,000 MXN (around $932 USD).

Right now, I’m asking for your help—whether it’s contributing $155 USD or any other amount—anything would truly help us tackle this debt. It would be a huge relief, and we’d be forever grateful for your support.

To be honest, I’m running out of money and it’s starting to take a toll on both my physical and mental health. I haven’t been able to buy clothes, shoes, or even enjoy simple things like going to the movies for months.

This situation has been incredibly tough, especially since I’ve committed to supporting him. My own income has dropped because I’m fully focused on finishing my degree in communication techniques and strategies. I recently started an unpaid internship in the external marketing department at an audiovisual production company, which I love! But I’m also paying extra fees for my studies to make sure I graduate on time.

Additionally, I’m trying to launch a photography and video brand with a few friends, but instead of investing in equipment, I’ve been using my earnings to help my boyfriend. This has been frustrating and unsustainable for both of us.

The past few weeks have been especially hard. I’ve been skipping meals and losing sleep just to save money. We’ve had several difficult conversations about our financial situation, especially since the previous month my income has dropped by about 40%. I’ve tried to explain that he needs to find a solution too, but things have become even more challenging because he’s recently been diagnosed with Bell’s palsy and is now unable to walk due to a knee injury, though he’s already undergoing treatment (Update: he's taken a total of 11 shots, 5 of them were penicilin, he's doing slightly better).

Thankfully, my mom and a close friend have been helping where they can, but it’s clear this situation can’t go on like this. I want to be able to focus on my passion and feel like I’m building something for myself, without this constant financial pressure.

If you’re in a position to help, it would mean the world to us. We’re doing everything we can to move forward, but this debt is draining us emotionally and financially. Even with extra work, it’s hard to save or plan for the future. As some of you know, my boyfriend is also raising his 12-year-old child, whose mother passed away a few years ago, which adds even more weight to the situation.
