Between 1677 and 1682, a major murder scandal known as the Affair of the Poisons occurred in France. Prominent members of the aristocracy were implicated in a series of poisonings, revealing a network of poison suppliers in Paris. The resulting investigation led to the arrest and execution of numerous important individuals.
