Let's see how and why they did this, and how names like Saks, Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Sears, Harrods, Selfridges, Lewis's, Au Bon Marché, Printemps, Galeries Lafayette, Kaufhof, Mitsukoshi, La Rinascente or El Corte Ingles became household names in their respective countries, or even internationally.
