Okay short story time:
Today I didn't have the best rest, because I had troubles sleeping and had to wake up very early. So my mood wasn't necessarily bad, but it was just mentally exhausted and in my head. After my lecture I went to the learning-group room, they set up for my faculty a while ago, to study before my next seminar started. As I enter the room -- there where five people or so and people normally don't greet strangers/people they dont know that come inside- there was this person that smiled at me with such a warmth. I immediatly smiled back and sat down at a table. I saw them the very first time, i assume they're not in the same field as me (but same faculty). Well, i thought he mistook me for someone, because normally i'm the first one to smile at someone (be it friends or strangers), so i wasn't necessarily used to it. Anyway-- i studied and as I packed my stuff to leave and go to my next seminar, he smiled again at me while leaving. Again, I smiled back.
On my way out I realised how much it had lifted up my mood, how much a little smile, such a little effortless gesture, could impact me. This is not about someone smiling at me -- this is about always remembering to be kind and friendly to people, because we might not know what is going on in their lives and a little kindness can always give a little hope to someone. I guess.
Anyway, this was longer than intended, haha. Those of you who read it, maybe you enjoyed it, maybe not, doesn't really matter. I just felt like sharing this. And with this-- take care!
