Ackie monitors have spiky tails with extremely hard scales. When escaping predators, they will wedge themselves into a tiny crevice with their tail at the entrance. The predator will usually get a mouth full of spikes and will be deterred. This is Thaddeus. I love scratching on his tail because it makes such a cool sound. 🥰
