ASMR Writing & Teaching You Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphs | Soft Speaking & Sketching
I got suuuuper carried away with this video, I was so into it hahah. There is a sort of a long introduction, mostly my personal history with my love of Ancient Egypt and all it entails. I even bring out a piece of bona fide Egyptian papyrus for ya. I've somewhat a poor way of explaining but in my defense, this was super spontaneous and I had almost zero pre-planning haha. Hope y'all enjoy nonetheless :) remember, I'm not an expert and this was a hobby of mine many moons ago – I'm not going to have the same level of knowledge or ability as someone who had done this for years lol
Today's video is just on uniliteral hieroglyphs, representing one sound, like the Egyptian vulture for 'ah' as opposed to multiple syllables, like my example in the video of Osiris' spine as the hieroglyph for 'djed'. Hieroglyphs can represent just a sound or it can represent a whole idea, though in the vid I say a literal object which is correct but should have also included the idea portion. I touch on just a little bit of hieratic, though I never really went into hieratic and just the standard hieroglyphs that one would use for writing on walls or paintings.
