From Lancashire to Saskatchewan: My Journey So Far

Almost ten years ago, I left Lancashire, England, to begin a new life in Ontario, Canada, and in the last couple years rural Saskatchewan.

In this video, I reflect on what that journey has really been like - not just the practical changes, but the quieter ones too. I begin by talking about something I never expected: trying to get my northern Lancashire accent back after years of living abroad, and how parts of it have gradually faded with time.

From there, I share my experience of building a life in another country, raising a family far from home, and living with the feeling of having one foot in two different worlds. It’s an honest conversation about identity, belonging, homesickness, gratitude, and the lessons I’ve learned along the way.

If you’ve ever moved away from home, wondered where you truly belong, or felt yourself changing in ways you didn’t anticipate, I hope you’ll find something here that resonates.

I’d love to hear your own story in the comments where is “home” for you?
