Hi Victor, I am leaving within two weeks and I am going to stop overthinking things. May I please ask your honest opinion on the state of education for foreigners in Japan, as not being related to me (Below)? Not advice, just your opinion based on your observations. This is just an observation, but it seems that a lot of foreign teachers in Japan are arrogant people who get some sort of weird sense of accomplishment from just living in Japan, and pretentiously act pompous by this fact, and sadly they don't realize this is not a personal accomplishment. This is not you, and a lot of people are good, but a lot people I have talked to, both foreign teachers and foreign school administrators are like this (when I am in Japan I'll just ignore this). I think Japanese culture is super neat, and I've had a dream to pursue a career as a teacher, while simultaneously studying to hopefully one day become a scientist; but this aspect of how foreigners act, has put me off as to whether I should follow my dream of living in Japan and training and competing Jiu Jitsu (again, I'll just ignore it). Along with the sad nature that dispatch companies undercut salaries, in the name of "creating opportunities" but in the subtext of greed, so that teachers are not part of a viable career choice anymore. I am not much but the way people act makes you feel down. I am not much but because of my credentials I was offered jobs to teach at universities and international schools in China and Taiwan, with free housing. And even though I am not handsome, I was offered two modeling jobs in Tokyo, and I was offered a job to teach Jiu Jitsu in Saitama, even a job in evaluating essays in Tokyo, but I just always though it would be so neat to be an ALT. But it seems sad how teachers act towards one another and how employers and dispatch companies treat teachers. And the teachers who take the jobs at low, poverty wages, are doing nothing more than the perpetuation of low wages, and have basically become scabs. Either way, I am leaving in the next two weeks to go to either Japan or Taiwan, then eventually maybe China. I don't need advice, I just wanted to ask your opinion and observations in these aspects of teaching in Japan. Thank you, Patrick (Down in Denver)
