Atlantis, The Lost Utopia | ASMR Soft Spoken

Let's investigate the lost empire of Atlantis, described in Plato's Timaeus and Critias. Considered a utopia full of riches, Atlantis was drowned in a deluge caused by its descent into avarice and military over-expansion. Atlantis serves as a warning, one echoed in Thomas More's Utopia, a book that shows us how to build reasonable, kind societies (all with a touch of satire, of course). We will also consider the lost island of Antilia, one that acts as a Medieval Atlantis, appearing on maps but never found.

What I want to think about most, however, is the nature of happiness. More suggests that happiness emerges from the monopolization of the senses - that the ability to focus is the key to extended happiness - not just for people, but for the societies in which they live as well.
