Cheers
Means: thanks, or sometimes goodbye informally
Example: Cheers for your help.
Mate
Means: friend, used very casually
Example: You alright, mate?
You alright?
A common greeting, not a health question
Example: You alright?
Response: Yeah, you?
Knackered
Means: very tired
Example: I’m absolutely knackered today.
Gutted
Means: very disappointed
Example: I was gutted when it got cancelled.
Chuffed
Means: pleased or proud
Example: She was chuffed with her results.
Peckish
Means: slightly hungry
Example: I’m feeling a bit peckish.
Sorted
Means: resolved, taken care of
Example: Tickets booked, hotel confirmed, sorted.
Proper
Used for emphasis, like really or truly
Example: That was a proper good film.

Means: not something I like

Bit dodgy
Means: suspicious or unreliable

Means: and there you go, it’s done easily

Means: it’s raining heavily
Example: Take an umbrella, it’s chucking it down.

Means: someone is a bit silly or not very sharp

Means: completely useless

Means: can’t be bothered, no motivation

Means: very easy
Example: That was easy peasy.
Piece of cake
Means: very easy
Example: That test was a piece of cake.
Blimey
An expression of surprise
Example: Blimey, that was loud.
Gobsmacked
Means: extremely surprised
Example: I was gobsmacked when she told me.
That’s mental
Means: that’s crazy or unbelievable
