About Healing a Tongue Split- Good, Bad and the Unexpected
Healing my tongue split was no joke!
The artist made two initial cuts to split my tongue down the middle and a third cut to remove the frenulum holding my tongue to the lower palate.
I drove 6 hours to get it split and the swelling REALLY kicked in after an hour into the home trip.
I definitely underestimated the swelling…
My throat was just as inflamed because of my swollen tongue, which also suffered lots of sores from my teeth rubbing against it.
I opted to water fast for the first couple days because it was painful to swallow.
Plenty of rest and ibuprofen was my regimen for the first few days.
As recommend by the artist, I stuck with my plant- based diet to help encourage healing.
I kept my stitches in until day 5.
Once I took the stitches out, the swelling quickly subsided and I began to enjoy the mod I committed to.
Crucial recovery was about 1 week and my lisp was worked out within a month.
I communicated with the artist daily so he could observe my healing process and answer any questions.
It was a hell of a heal, but I do not regret a moment of it!
