"Grounding" is when you pay attention to your senses in the present as a way to anchor yourself to the NOW, thereby decreasing the intensity of thoughts and emotions, with the goal of feeling more calm and being able to make more effective decisions.
What do you see? smell? feel?
One grounding technique is to identify, and perhaps even name out loud, everything in your vicinity that is a single color, for example the color BLUE!
