๐บ Ancient Roman Medical Treatment ๐ช | ASMR Full Body Oil Massage in a Roman Bathhouse RP
It was Asclepiades (120 BC โ 40 BC), originally of Turkey but ended up teaching Greek medicine in Rome, that suggested ailments be treated with a prescription of music, massage, and wine. It is his treatment that we use for this video! My research wasn't clear as to who would perform or where said treatment would occur, so I filled in some blanks with my own story.
You come to a Roman bathhouse, with fires heating the caldarium (hot water bath) and soft water sounds all around you, and you take your daily bath. After you take part in the frigidarium, the tepidarium, and the caldarium baths, then you come to me to receive your medical massage. As it is Rome, we will use a healthy amount of olive oil to slide & knead your skin to help promote healing and general health :)

Triggers include: soft speaking, whispering, crackling fire ambiance, flowing water ambiance, face touching, oily sounds / oily hands, scalp massage, face massage, hand & arm massage, inaudible whispers, and lots of personal attention.
Lots & lots of resources were used for this video, but my most used was this video from English Heritage (awesome unintentional ASMR!): [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AxHoNCFHXA&t=1181s] It details how the ancient Romans would have probably looked as well as mapping and explaining a Roman bathhouse. I wasn't able to emulate the Roman look perfectly, as I can't sew in my hair myself and only had 4 or 5 pins (I seriously spent 30 mins searching for pins under the furniture and on the floor and came up with at most 5), but I think it turned out solid given what I had.
Editing was also apparent rushed, as my fade in the beginning was MISSING (bad past Calliope), so apologies on that. After the first few hours of editing, everything starts to blur together LOL
