Hi everyone! 💖 I hope you’re all doing well. Tonight, my boyfriend, Carlos, and I are hosting a meaningful ASMR livestream that goes beyond relaxation—it’s about making a real difference in a challenging situation.

Here’s why we’re doing this:

Three years ago, before we met, he was involved in a car accident while learning to drive. He was just starting to move the car from a parked position when another driver hit him, causing the vehicle to roll. At the time, he didn’t have a driver’s license, which made everything much more complicated.

The accident turned into a legal and financial battle. The other driver’s insurance sued him for $82,000 MXN (about $4,200 USD), an impossible amount for someone who works as a teacher of art and dance for people with disabilities. Without immediate payment, he was at risk of going to jail.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of friends and supporters, we were able to hire a lawyer who negotiated the debt down to $60,000 MXN ($3,107 USD). Half of that has been paid, and the remaining balance is being covered in monthly payments of $3,000 MXN ($155 USD). So far, we’ve managed to make six payments, but we’re still $12,000 MXN ($589 USD) away from being debt-free.

This has been a massive burden for both of us. As many of you know, I’m currently finishing my degree in communication techniques and strategies, paying for university, mental health therapy, and trying to launch a creative business in photography and video production with friends. I also help Carlos with my photography, video and social media management work on the association for people with disabilities he works at. On top of that, I’ve been helping him financially as much as possible, even though I recently started an unpaid internship at an audiovisual production company, in order to complete my university credits.

This situation has stretched us to our limits emotionally and financially. Over the last few weeks, things have become especially hard—I’ve been skipping meals and losing sleep, working overtime, to save money. While my mom and a close friend have stepped in to help, it’s clear that we need to find a more sustainable way forward.

What makes this even more urgent is that my boyfriend is also raising his 12-year-old child alone, as his son lost his mother a couple years ago. This debt is not just holding us back financially; it’s weighing on us emotionally and preventing us from building the life we both dream of.
