Welcome! Today, we travel back to the Viking age. During the period in history we now refer to as the Viking Age, elaborate burial sites can be found all over the Scandinavian territory. Finding one of them is rare, but not so rare enough. Luckily, archeologists have gathered evidence and developed an idea of what these traditions meant. Not just reserved for kings and Jarls, some have been made for warriors and shamans. Some even seem to contain the remains of rather ordinary individuals. Giving us a wide range of social classes to study how they may have truly lived. The Bikra Girl, the Pagan Lady of Peel, even the findings of the South Yorkshire Woman, have deepened the understanding of the Viking ways of life. By studying the dead, we interpret theories on how they maybhsve lived. Buried with the tools they needed for the afterlife, we find out the ancient ways for them. From golden riches, swords, spindles, herbs, flowers, animal sacrifices, slave sacrifices…the painting of life for these bygone people still remains a mystery overall. Only out imaginations can interpret what it may have all meant 🗡️ 🥀
