Matariki, otherwise known as Māori New Year, is a public holiday that New Zealand has only recently implemented. I'm technically a week late 👀 but better late than never... right? I hope you guys enjoy this soft speaking ASMR video about the history, cultural significance and modern day relevance of Matariki in Māori culture. (By the way, Māori are the indigenous people of New Zealand / Aotearoa).

P.S. Sorry if I butcher some of the Māori!!! I don't actually speak the language, but it does get used here and there around NZ and schools / universities occasionally try to incorporate it into their curriculum.
