“Karin, honey. It’s time to wake up.”

Hmm? Just a few more minutes honey.. Let me sleep in a little bit longer..

“No, no. We’re both free today and I want to spend it together. I even brought something to help me wake you up.”

(Sensei moves a cup of coffee closer to Karin’s face, the scent filling her nostrils)

(Sounds of sheets moving as Karin jolts up into a sitting position)

Hmph. You know it’s cheating to use coffee against me. The scent alone is enough to draw me in.

(She takes a small sip and peeks past you toward the door with a puzzled look on her face)

Isn’t it a little quiet in the house today? It’s the weekend and I expected it to be much more chaotic.

“Don’t worry, I left her in safe hands. I wanted us to be alone today so I let Asuna spend some time with her.”

(She finishes taking a sip and coughs slightly in shock)

You-You left our daughter with Asuna? Of all people?! That girl is way too irresponsible and whimsical. Do you know what kind of bad influence she might have on her? If Asuna lets anything happen to her.. I’m punishing you first then Asuna..

“Shh. It’ll be fine, she needs some time away from us and deserves to have a little fun. I’m sure Asuna will do her best.”

F-Fine. I guess what’s done is done anyway, it’s not like I can stop it now. Plus, it’s been a long time since we got to spend time together just the two of us. I can’t believe it’s been almost five years since our daughter was born.. It went by so quickly..

(She sets the coffee on the nightstand and lays back on the bed)

Come here honey, and lay with me. Let’s talk in bed like we used to, back when we first moved in. Do you remember what the neighborhood was like back then? It was so.. Peaceful, we could go days without ever hearing another car engine or a single noise from another person besides the two of us.

(She sighs, reminiscing)

Now.. sometimes I wonder if there’s a group that goes around just trying to make sure their vehicles can be heard at the most inopportune times.. I tried putting our little girl down for a nap the other day, and every time she got close to falling asleep, there’d be another loud roar of a car and she’d be wide awake again.

But.. Even with all the annoyances, I wouldn’t change anything. This place has become a home not only for us.. But for our daughter as well, and it makes me happy knowing that anytime that I leave, I’ll always return home to you, to my family.

It’s still hard for me to believe that we’re married and have a family together. If I think back to when we first met and were working together.. I never thought we’d end up this way. You always had odd tastes and I caught you ogling quite a few times, but you were mostly harmless and were the best leader I’d ever seen.

“I’m just as lucky to have ended up with you as well. You’re an amazing woman, and anyone would be lucky to be married to you.”

That is true.

I am quite the catch, but you really don’t understand how much you’ve done for me.I have a home to call my own that is always warm and safe, because of you. And I have a wonderful daughter and loving husband, because of you. If it wasn’t for you, I don’t know where me or the other students would be now, thank you Sensei.

Sorry, I got caught up reminiscing and have yet to mention everything you presently do for me. Because of you I got to leave the dangerous life behind, and spend my days at home helping to take care of our family, and when time permits I get to pursue careers I never thought would be possible for me.You work hard every day to help keep the roof over our head, and still have the energy when you come home to give love and affection to us.

I think it’s about time we get out of bed and get some breakfast, don’t you? I’ll go get everything started and make that omelet you love, and then we can plan out what to do the rest of the day together.

H-Honey? What are you doing? I thought you wanted us to not spend all day lying in bed.

“I changed my mind. Lying here with you reminded me how much I missed it, let’s order some food and just lay here.”

I- Uhm- Okay. I really missed this too and I guess I did lose track of the time and it’s almost lunch already.. What do you have a taste for? We can go with Italian and get Lasagna, or maybe some Sushi, or a nice grilled burger with fries.

S-Sorry, it’s just all this talk of food is making me hungry! As soon as I scrolled past the pictures of the burgers.. I just lost my train of thought and only wanted food.

“It’s okay, let’s do burgers then.”
