there’s been a few comments here and there of people saying that they know why I did an advent calendar in December.

most of the comments are geared towards finances.

something along the lines of, “I’m not doing this advent for you, the viewer, but for my own paycheck”

ad revenue is higher during the holidays but if I was in this for the money I would have put mid-roll and non-skippable ads in by now. You know?

I have been wanting to post everyday for a month for a while now.

I actually wanted to do it in January of this year but I unfortunately was very sick at the time and could barely record at all.

so, I figured a Christmas advent calendar would be the best substitute!

if anything, this advent calendar could do more harm than good, what with all my content flooding your screens everyday.

It’s over-saturation!

views could go down, I could lose subscribers, long-term fans could click off because I’m just around too often.

OR on the flip side, I could gain a bunch of new followers. I could reach new view counts I’ve never seen before, my content could get pushed to all new people!

I’m also able to try out a BUNCH of new concepts and posting times because of the frequency of uploads. So even if one concept doesn’t take, a better video will come out tomorrow anyways.

this advent calendar isn’t about money, while of course the money is nice, this advent calendar is about my analytical research.

I want to see what this event does to my numbers. How will it influence my community?

How will my stats change AFTER the event is over? will the numbers sink? Was I too available and now no one wants to see my content anymore?

WHO KNOWS!

I sure don’t - but that’s why I WANT to know.

that’s why I’m doing this advent!

I want to learn from this. I’m so interested in the numbers and if you haven’t noticed, I’ve been pretty active in my comments lately.

(at least at the time of posting. it’s only December 11th for me and I leave for Germany in two days and then Christmas is right after lol)

But a break will be nice.
