German has a reputation of sounding harsh and militaristic. But did you know that there are many different versions of this language, sometimes so different in vocabulary and pronunciation, that even native speakers can't understand each other? Let's have a closer look today at the 3 main centres of German - Germany, Austria and Switzerland - and how they overlap with the 3 big dialect families.
