The Autistic Hole

I started to slip
All I could feel was mud
I grasped for anything I could grab ahold of
Sticks, rocks, roots
I started to slip
Into an abyss, a deep chasm, a black hole
My feet scrambling for a foot hold
Sticky, mucky, slimy
I started to slip
Into myself, losing my voice, fading into nothingness
The hole existing only in my mind
Overstimulated, reactive, stuck
I started to slip
Back to the place of dissociation and numbness
The place I always try to flee from
Running, in place, no progress
I started to slip
Always back here, like a reoccurring dream
How do you climb out of your own consciousness?
Ruminating thoughts, tingly fingers, amplified noises
I started to slip
Inside myself stuck
You can’t cure an autistic, only aid in being optimistic
Continuous, perpetual, incessant
I started to cope
Trying to make my unseen symptoms bearable
Squeezing into a nest, wearable
Stimming, stimming, stimming
…………………………………………….
