Slay the Princess - To Trust the Narrator or To Trust Ourselves 🗡️

Today’s dive into Slay the Princess took a turn I didn’t expect. What started as a simple 'go slay the princess' premise slowly unraveled into something emotionally profound, confusing, and existentially unsettling.

I found myself caught between the narrator’s rigid story — the one where I’m the hero, she’s the monster, and the ending is already written — and the story I wanted to tell. My story. I didn't quite get there but I did notice the narrator's persistence, his willingness to lie when 'his' story starts to go off the rails, and the true emotional arc presented by the game developers.

This game is wild, emotional, and far more thoughtful than I expected when I picked it up today. I’m excited (and a little nervous) to see where this story goes next — and whether I can break the cycle and choose something gentler.

Settle in, get cozy, and let’s wander deeper into this strange little narrative labyrinth together 🩵
